Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields—Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, and Minister for Corrections) — I acknowledge and commend the outstanding contribution of the Salvation Army Macquarie Fields through the annual Red Shield Appeal and its ongoing support for vulnerable individuals and families across the Macquarie Fields community. The compounded impact of financial and social pressures in recent years has meant that homelessness and hardship are increasingly becoming a reality for many individuals and families, including more employed Australians. The Red Shield Appeal continues to play a vital role in raising funds and awareness to support people experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, social isolation and crisis. Through the dedication of local staff and volunteers, fundraising and community engagement activities have been held across the electorate, including gift wrapping, Easter and Christmas lunches, Mother's Day events and Red Day activities at local schools and preschools. Through the Red Shield Appeal Door Knock and local fundraising activities, including community events and outreach at local shopping centres, the Salvation Army continues to assist our most vulnerable community members. I commend the Salvation Army, its staff, volunteers and supporters for their ongoing commitment to serving the Macquarie Fields community through the Red Shield Appeal.
