Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields—Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, and Minister for Corrections) — I was delighted to visit Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Ingleburn to learn about young people making a difference in their community through the Mini Vinnies initiative. Mini Vinnies provides an opportunity for primary students, typically in Years 3 to 6, to put their values into action. Mini Vinnies is a youth branch of the global Catholic charity St Vincent de Paul or 'Vinnies', and teaches young people about social justice and supporting each other through pastoral care. The Holy Family group meet regularly to discuss local issues, hear from community leaders and participate in activities to help those in need. Students are encouraged to donate clothing which is passed on to the Macquarie Fields Vinnies shop. Donated non-perishable food items go to Vinnies' Nagle Centre in Campbelltown, supporting people and families experiencing crisis. The group also visits residents at the aged care facility, Pembroke Lodge in Minto, providing an opportunity to strengthen community connections. Through Mini Vinnies, students learn empathy, compassion and advocacy by helping those in need. I commend Holy Family Catholic Primary School on the wonderful work of Mini Vinnies in our community.
