Community Recognition Statement

Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields): All of us here have supporters who become friends. They are the ones who will always have your back; always offer a kind word of encouragement, and who always help out.

My dear late friend Helen Jakobsson of Macquarie Fields was one such friend.

While Helen was a staunch supporter of mine, she was so much more. She was the devoted wife of Bill – they met when Helen was still in her teens and were as madly in love at the end as on the occasion of their first date.

They loved going to the annual seniors concert together holding each other's hand. Helen was the devoted mother of four – sadly two of her children predeceased her.

Gratefully though, Helen's two surviving children, Peter and Katherine, along with one of her grandchildren, spoke lovingly of her at her funeral this week.

Helen had a varied career including running and owning a chicken farm and working for Home Care.

Helen was a doer and she rarely sat still for long. She was proud of her family and proud of her community.

Helen Jakobsson was my friend and I will miss her.
