Mr MARK SPEAKMAN (Cronulla) (12:06): My question is directed to the Minister for Corrections. What steps has the Minister taken to ensure that serious sexual and violent crime offenders cannot access photographs of their victims while in custody?

Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields—Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, and Minister for Corrections) (12:07): I thank the Leader of the Opposition for his question. He is referring to a recent incident where it was alleged that an offender had access to photographs of their victim. I have spoken to the victim and passed on our apologies, as has the Commissioner of Police. An internal examination is currently taking place to ensure that similar incidents do not happen in the future. The allegations are certainly distressing, and Corrections is finalising its internal investigation to get to the bottom of it and to ensure that appropriate action will be taken for those who are involved in this particular matter.
