Community Recognition Statement

Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields) (13:26): I pay tribute to my good friend, former Campbelltown City Council colleague and now life member of the Labor Party, Mr Wal Glynn. Unfortunately a minute does not allow me to expand on Wal's many achievements, but suffice to say he has achieved in every aspect of his life. He was an army officer and then a lecturer at the former Sydney Teachers' College, a councillor for eight years, a football coach, a justice of the peace, a committed member of his church, a devoted husband to Nell, a father, a grandfather to 26 and a great-grandfather to eight and growing, and he is now a proud life member of the ALP. No doubt there is much I have left out, but to me Wal will always stand tall as a dear friend whose company I very much enjoy. I offer my sincerest congratulations on the honour he has received from the party. It is thoroughly deserved and a worthy recognition of his lifetime commitment to our party. May he continue to contribute to the Labor Party and our local community for many years to come.
