Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields—Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, and Minister for Corrections)—Many residents of Macarthur have lived locally their entire lives, and many have moved in from outside the area. But this does not mean that there is a lack of community‑mindedness – 24-Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur shows that the opposite is true. This charity was started by the late Councillor Fred Borg OAM in 2005 to support funding for local cancer services. Every dollar raised goes towards the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the Oncology Ward and Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit at Campbelltown Hospital, and the Palliative Care Unit and associated Outreach Service at Camden Hospital. This assists the treatment, care and comfort of children and adults dealing with cancer. This month I attended the launch of the 2023 fundraising year for 24-Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur in preparation for its annual weekend walkathon on 14 and 15 October. This annual event has raised more than $5 million over the past 19 years. I thank the incredible efforts of Chairperson Warren Morrison and all those involved. I know that the Macarthur community will again show their community generosity.
