After years of inaction and delayed promises, the Edmondson Park South Commuter Car Park has finally opened to the public.
This follows a long and hard-fought community campaign by Federal Member for Werriwa Anne Stanley MP and State Member for Macquarie Fields Anoulack Chanthivong MP.
Residents have been waiting a staggering seven years for action to fix the commuter car parking crisis after Edmondson Park Station opened in 2015.
“It’s great to see the long-overdue car park finally operational,” Ms Stanley said.
“Anoulack and I have campaigned long and hard with the community over many years for this important community infrastructure.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped support our campaign and signed our petitions. This is a fabulous victory for our community and for commuters now returning to work.”
Mr Chanthivong MP said the car park was part of a continued fight for our community’s fair share.
“The car park is a great community win and the result of commuters’ outrage at a parking crisis which the Liberal Government ignored for too long.
“Now that the car park is open, it’s time for the NSW Liberal Government to deliver on its promise for a long-awaited public school for local children and families.
“Our community is sick and tired of being ignored. All our community wants is a fair go.
We deserve our fair share,” Mr Chanthivong said.
